On one of my many visits to browse through martial arts magazines in my local newsagents, I came across an article about a revolutionary new martial art choi kwang-do.(ckd). I read the story about how the founder grandmaster choi had developed a style (with the help of American doctors and scientists). That is more in harmony with the human body.the stretching performed at the start of the class(warm ups), is yoga based. All full contact is performed on focus mitts and striking shields,thus eliminating any holding back.

The plus of this style of martial arts is the arms and legs never lock out so you never have to hyper-extend,this means less wear and tear on your joints.

There are so many benefits for doing ckd and I feel so much better, that 4 years on I have never looked back.

To date I am now a 1st degree yellow tag black belt.

I also assist my instructor with the taking the stretching at the beginning of the class and also going through the basic. Because of this my confidence has grown, I feel healthier and so much fitter.

As of October 2004, I have been made up to assistant instructor.

I hope to achieve chief instructor status one day.

As well as choi kwang do i enjoy playing chess. I like to keep fit and generally chill out with my family.
